Babymoon for a surfer couple

Updated: Jun 22, 2020

When a babymoon doubles as a relaxing getaway for mama and a surf trip for daddy, both partners get pumped for those late-night feedings and tag-team diaper duties (for the first few nights, anyways!).

A pre-baby vacay allows the surf couple to recharge and reset before the little one arrives. Although the surfer mama might not surf, she appreciates everything that comes with a surf trip. Things like, relaxing on the beach or enjoying a beautiful sunset dip, top the list. She also understands how important some surf time is for her partner; because, well, only a surfer knows, right? And nothing says "baby-ready" than a good barrel or two to prepare for their biggest adventure yet–parenthood.

Deciding on where to babymoon should be planned around what's safest for the baby. That would leave out places with limited medical facilities–in case something unexpected happens half way around the world. Additionally, go somewhere with surf breaks close to shore–versus ones far out to sea and only accessible by boat. The surfing dad can keep an eye on his baby mama.

What exactly is baby mama doing? Hopefully, relaxing. While her partner's scoring waves, she's scoring an hour-long prenatal massage or chilling poolside, with a how-to baby book in queue on her kindle. She might even be getting some exercise by swimming along the shore where her baby daddy's surfing.

There's nothing wrong about a little preggo mind surfing either. Baby mama might be frothing for those long lefts but totally content with shooting pics of her partner in action. He's catching waves for the both of them, while she’s eating for two. In fact, she's most likely eating while taking photos; clearly, she's already got the new-mom multitasking thing down.

At the end of the day, it's all about enjoying quality time together. After all, a babymoon should also celebrate the couple's relationship–no matter where in the world they go or what they do. It's the last hurrah before the birth but definitely not the last adventure.
