The answer is no! And she let all of Arapahoe Basin know it, too, with her high-pitched wails. Maybe it was the icy feeling on her hands, or perhaps it was the jet lag–whatever it was, she was not the happy little snow bunny we'd imagined!
She was still a cute snow bunny, though. We dressed her in a Carter's snow bib overall and jacket set, which was all we really needed for snow in June. The outfit was warm for the chilly mountaintop winds–yet–breathable in the summer sunshine. She just wore regular tennis shoes since we didn't want to go overboard with buying winter clothes for a growing toddler–from Hawaii.
In fact, getting snow-ready from Hawaii is always interesting. We are fortunate to have family who can loan us things we can't pack, like snowboarding helmets and snowboards. As for wardrobe, we rely on the worldwide web.
Our daughter's first snow experience happened on a whim. We planned to snowboard that day, while the kids played at the indoor children's center. On our way up the slopes, we noticed a few families riding on lifts with toddlers tucked in between. Some snow resorts allow children to tag along for free so that they, too, can enjoy the mountaintop amenities.
At the end of the lift ride, it got noticeably chillier, and our daughter did not like that. Needless to say, we ducked into the nearby restaurant for shelter before heading back down to warmer zones.
